“Kinda blew me away. Just incredible. So unsparing…”

“Some fairly standard documentary narration works in tension with a wildly inventive visual execution! Clever use of anthropomorphism pushes us to look with fresh eyes at a story we thought we knew.”

COMMENTS FROM THE JURY PANEL:

“Not an easy watch by any means, but powerful filmmaking that asks questions and lets the viewer look for the answers.”

“Heartbreaking and powerful. The originality in this film is in how the filmmaker shows how a contemporary issue is handled in an underrepresented culture. The performances from the main actors are beautiful. The direction is assured and economical.”

A GIANT THANK YOU TO ALL THE FILMMAKERS

The festival is extremely grateful for the participation of all the talented filmmakers. We have received favorable comments about every single film in the official selection. It's important to remember that art cannot be reduced to a simple numerical value. If half of the audience gives a film 5 stars and the other half gives it 1 star, the net result is 3, which doesn't represent either of the largest perspectives. We are honored to have had such an amazing lineup and we respect the efforts and talents of every filmmaker.
We invite all officially selected 2023 filmmakers to submit to our future festivals with a fully-waived submission fee. Award laurels will be coming to the filmmakers soon.
